STEFAN MARX

Stefan Marx (born in 1979) lives and works in Berlin. He self-publishes artist books, creates album covers for various music labels and showcases his work in galleries, institutions and art book fairs worldwide. His work has been featured in numerous international exhibitions and he has done graphic work for various programs and labels. In August 2019, his daily drawing column appeared in the New York Times. Together with Britta Peters at Urbane Künste Ruhr, he worked on three monumental wall drawings in the Ruhr area.

In his work „Join a Band Leave a Band“ for the Pool Board Series, Marx explores themes of friendships and the various groups or circles we sometimes join or leave. It reflects on the passage of time and the joy of doing great things with friends. The piece also touches on the idea of a community that can change and the importance of letting go of structures that no longer support your well-being.
